Check out our live construction map, to see where and when we will be installing the heat network. These dates may change, so check-in regularly to see the latest plans.

Heat network installation works in Walkways communal areas

Works will be happening in the Walkways to upgrade the heating and hot water system. The works will start in the communal areas of each block. The work will be undertaken by Cenergist who have made a video to explain the different stages of the works.
Cenergist site manager Charlie Richardson explains where pipework will go in each of the three Walkway blocks. Works will start in Hurstway Walk communal area before moving to Testerton Walk communal area, then Barandon Walk communal area.

Residents will receive a letter about the works to explain more and give advance notice.

The work inside residents’ homes is not due to start until summer 2025.

If you have any queries about the works, you can contact Cenergist Resident Liaison Officer Eunice by email Eunice.monterio@cenergist.com or Lancasterwest@cenergist.com Residents are also welcome to drop in to unit 32 Baseline Studios where Cenergist have their on-site office.

Construction plan released!

16 May 2024

Construction on the Notting Dale Heat Network at Lancaster West is due to start in May 2024! Our construction phasing map has just been released. The heat network will be built in 12 sections, each has been designed to take between 8-12 weeks to build. More information on dates will take place soon.

How the heat network is installed

16 May 2024The heat network requires new pipework to be laid underground. Most of the pipes will be installed into streets, or beneath pavements. In streets, one lane will be temporary closed and fenced off.
Traffic control measures will be put in place. A narrow trench will then be dug-out in the closed lane, and pipework installed. The heat network will be installed in sections of 60m, that’s about half a football field in length. We have done lots of surveys, to make sure that there is space to lay the new heat pipes.

Building our co-designed Energy Tree

16 May 2024There are three energy centre locations at Camelford Walk Boiler Room, the thermal store at Bomore Road, and heat pumps to be installed on top of Kensington Leisure Centre. We will provide notice to residents living close to the energy centres when construction is due to begin. Work is expected to start late Summer, early Autumn 2024 on each of these sites.
