Lancaster West Wins Green Flag Award Again!
Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team is delighted to accept this year's Green Flag Award. The Green Flag Award is an international recognition of excellence in green space management.
Lancaster West Estate was awarded a Green Flag in 2022 and 2023, and is the only housing estate in the borough to win the award this year.
This year, we scored the highest possible marks available for a Green Flag site.
The judge for the Green Flag Award 2024 was particularly impressed by the variety and quantity of good quality green spaces such as the rain garden at Lower Clarendon, eight new food growing planters for our food growing project and new food growing club, and the eight green screens in the Secret Garden.
Since 2022, LWNT has turned 1160 m² of grey spaces green, biodiversified 1323m² of green spaces on the Estate, and achieved an Urban Greening Factor score of 0.46, exceeding the London Plan’s recommended target for residential developments.
LWNT works with Lancaster West Residents’ Association and partners including @Arup, @Meristem, @Urban Growth, @Hello Hubbub and @Cameron Gardens.
LWNT also works closely with residents to co-design and create spaces that can be enjoyed by all and provide access to nature in the heart of our city.
Thank you to all the volunteers and residents for taking part in maintaining quality green spaces on the estate.
