Lancaster West Community Fridge

Launching the Lancaster West Community Fridge

Launching the Lancaster West Community Fridge

When: Thursday 23 September 3-6pm

Where: North Kensington Resource Centre (between Testerton and Hurstway Walk)

We’re inviting all residents to the launch of the Lancaster West Community Fridge with a free community feast, cooking demos and family fun afternoon!  The Community Fridge has been developed in partnership with Lancaster West Residents’ Association and is supported by Co-op and environmental charity Hubbub. The Lancaster West Community Fridge is one of over 150 community fridges across the UK helping thousands of people connect to their neighbours, save money, learn new skills and reduce waste.

A community fridge is a space where anyone can exchange food that would otherwise go to waste. Run by local volunteers, fridges also provide a social space to share recipes, have a laugh and learn more about food and growing your own. Equally, if you are, or know of a local food business which might have surplus to donate, we would love to hear from you.

You will be receiving a small box in the post with more information about the community fridge and how it works and a bag which you can use to donate and collect food from the fridge.

What time does the fridge open?

Initially the fridge will be open at the following times:

Wednesdays: 1.30 - 4.30pm

Thursdays: 3.30 - 6.30pm

Get in touch with Hibo Yussuf Hibo.Yussuf@rbkc.gov.uk or call 07817095249 if you would like to find out more or could spare some time to volunteer.
