Help Us Make Your Stations Step-Free

We want you to participate in a survey to support in getting Latimer Road or Ladbroke Grove Stations Step Free.
Over the next few months, TFL (Transport for London) will be carrying out a consultation across London, to help shape their future approach for Step-Free stations.
The Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team want you to get involved and help get Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove stations Step Free.
Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Stations are not currently Step Free – with some of our residents needing to commute to Paddington Station to access the closest Step Free station.
Having Step Free options at either Latimer Road or Ladbroke Grove Station would greatly improve travel options for those of us with limited mobility or with unique transportation needs.
The latest census data shows us most people rely on public transport for daily activities as it states that 65.9% of households in Notting Dale Ward are without access to a car or van. On top of this, there are real needs in this area with ward level census data indicating that:
  • health and disability outcomes are “bad or very bad”
  • 12% of the ward is aged 65 and over
  • 70.8% of the Notting Dale ward is made up of social housing
Note that the consultation closes on 10 February 2022

To whom it may concern,
RE: Making Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Step Free
I am writing to express why it is important that these stations are prioritised for inclusion in the next step free programme for TFL (Transport for London).
There is a genuine and urgent need to provide step-free access at Ladbroke Grove Station or Latimer Road Station based on the needs of the people in the area, and the lack of step free alternatives nearby.
All nearby stations including Westbourne Park, Notting Hill Gate and Holland Park, are not step free or are, at best, partial step free. Meaning that those of us who require step-free access must commute to Paddington Station.
Having Step Free options at either Latimer Road or Ladbroke Grove Station would greatly improve travel options for those of us with limited mobility or with unique transportation needs.
The latest census data shows us most people rely on public transport for daily activities as it states that 65.9 per cent of households in Notting Dale Ward are without access to a car or van.

For me personally, step free access at either Latimer Road Station or Ladbroke Grove Station would mean…. (Input with your own personal story, or delete this section).

Tips for the Survey

TfL wants to find out what people think is important to make a tube station step-free. They are doing this by asking you to fill in this online survey.
Here are some tips on some question that will help you relate them to Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Stations.
Question 7 is asking to prioritise making stations step-free based on distinctive characteristics.
For example:
  • you can change to another line in a step-free Tube station?
  • a step-free Tube station is close to a bus station?
  • a step-free station is close to a town centre?
  • a step-free station is close to a hospital?
When answering the survey make sure that you keep in mind the characteristics of Ladbroke Grove or Latimer Road.
In this case what would be most important to you is Step – Free station close to a bus station as this is the case for Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Stations.
Question 9 is asking which type of station should be Step-free. The several types of stations are:
  • One complex station – Green Park Station
  •  A few and medium station – Wembley Park station
  • More small station – Ladbroke Grove/Latimer Road Station
  • A combination station – A combination of small/medium stations
When answering this question keep in mind that Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Stations are considered a Small Station.
Question 10 is asking which area kind of area they should prioritise in making stations step-free in areas.
The two options are:
  • Where there are minimal stations in a specific are or line, to fill in the gap where there is none or few Step-station
  • Where there are already some accessible stations with step-free access in the area or nearby.
Latimer Road and Ladbroke Grove Stations, fall in the first option where there is minimal station in area which have Step free access. The nearest being Paddington Station.
