Unlock Net Zero Live Award winners 2023

We’re delighted to announce that Lancaster West Neighbourhood Team has won in 2 categories at this year’s Unlock Net Zero Live Awards:
The Biodiversity and Nature Award: PlanBee
Innovation of the Year – Energy Provision: Goodbye Gas

The Unlock Net Zero Live awards seek to recognise and champion progress on building new low carbon homes and spaces whilst ensuring existing homes are refurbished to reach the UK Government’s target of net zero emissions by 2050.

PlanBee

PlanBee is our ongoing programme of garden-making and landscaping across the estate, aiming to improve existing green spaces, create new ones where possible and develop Lancaster West into a climate-resilient garden estate.
Working with Lancaster West Residents' Association (LWRA), Arup, Meristem, Urban Growth, Hubbub and Cameron Gardens, 947m2 of existing green space has been bio-diversified and 1849m2 has been transformed from underused grey space to new biodiverse green space.

Goodbye gas

Working with LWRA, our innovative Goodbye Gas offer is our ongoing programme to replace gas-powered heating, hot water, and cooking appliances with renewable energy on the estate by 2030. The offer allows residents to remove gas from their property with no cost or inconvenience to themselves.
To date, we have installed electric cookers with induction hobs in over 200 properties and removed 94 gas meters, which has saved 13,029.56kg of CO2 emissions and improved the safety and efficiency of residents’ homes.

LWNT would like to thank residents for helping us onto the winning list. We will continue to build on this achievement to bring residents even more exciting and innovative projects to help us deliver our goal of being carbon-neutral estate by 2030.
