Consultation with Secure Tenants
of Camborne Mews, Verity Close
and 1-8 Clarendon Walk
This statutory consultation is about the Council’s intention to connect homes to a Heat Network which in the future will operate across the Lancaster West Estate (“the Estate”). It is for Secure Tenants and Introductory Tenants living in homes at Verity Close, Camborne Mews and 1-8 Clarendon Walk.

As a reminder, the Council intends to:
• Connect properties to the Council's Heat Network which will provide heating and hot water in the future. This will require each home to be connected to the Heat Network through pipework and equipment inside the home and (for blocks of flats) pipework within the communal areas. Radiators will be replaced with radiators optimised for the new Heat Network system. For tenanted homes with gardens, a pipe will need to be laid under individual gardens to connect the home with the Network.
• A heat interface unit will be installed into each home. This device separates the communal heating system and the household heating system. A smart thermostat will be installed, to enable occupants of flats to control their heating. A Heat Meter device within each home will measure the heat used by the home and the metering information will be used to calculate bills for each home in the future. This means that in the future, each home will be billed for its own usage.
• Removing mains gas from flats and houses that currently have mains gas. In the future, heat and hot water will be provided by a Heat Network. The Council will provide electrical alternatives for cooking purposes. Any redundant equipment (including gas boilers) would also be removed from flats. Gas would not be removed from any home until homes have heat and hot water provided by the Heat Network.
The Council has asked an independent organisation to advise Tenants during this consultation process, for those who wish to receive this advice. This support is provided free of cost.
