Lancaster West Estate secures over £19m green refurb funding

Lancaster West Estate secures over £19m green refurb funding

More than £19 million of additional funding has been secured for the energy-efficient refurbishment of seven blocks on the Lancaster West Estate, from the UK Government’s Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund.

This fund, from the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) is being used to support innovative projects across the UK that propose to refurbish homes to a high standard of energy efficiency and bring health, comfort, and wellbeing benefits to residents.

Three separate projects on Lancaster West Estate were submitted to the scheme and all 3 have been awarded. These are:

· £12.9 million for Hurstway Walk, Barandon Walk, and Testerton Walk

· £3.4 million for the refurbishment of Camelford Court and Camelford Walk

· £3.14 million for the refurbishment of Morland House and Talbot Grove House

This follows from £1.6m of funding secured for Treadgold House in late 2020 from the European Union’s MustBe0 fund.

LWNT’s director James Caspell said

“We now have a unique opportunity to put a green recovery at the heart of Grenfell recovery, and ensure that Lancaster West becomes a 21st century model social housing estate.”

Electronic noticeboard on the estate

Electronic noticeboard on the estate

We are excited to announce we now have 5 electronic noticeboards which have been installed around the estate.

This is new pilot scheme will give us another way to communicate with residents, providing real-time updates on the estate works, refurbishment, events and more from your neighbourhood team. They are also interactive, so you give your feedback on what you see on screen. The e-noticeboards are in 5 locations, 2 in Camelford Walk, 1 in Lower Clarendon Walk; 1 in Barandon Walk and 1 in Testerton Walk.

We are one of the first estates in the borough to install the noticeboards and they are part of the overall vision of integrating the social and economic benefits provided by the next generation of digital connectivity and harnessing technology for our residents.

We would love to hear what residents think about our new e-noticeboards! Please email Sarah on sarah.mortell@rbkc.gov.uk with your thoughts and feedback.

New patrols start on the Lancaster West Estate

New patrols start on the Lancaster West Estate

Madeleine, Courtney and Karim are the new community wardens, in RBKC,  who now patrol the Lancaster West Estate. This is in response to residents’ concerns about anti-social behaviour on the estate.

“We’re here to provide a friendly face for residents and deal with any anti-social behaviour issues on the estate,” says Madeleine. Residents are encouraged to talk to the wardens about any concerns they may have when they see them out and about.

The warden service is on patrol throughout the borough between 7am to 11pm to provide a reassuring presence and assist with anti-social behaviour on the estate.

If you witness any forms of anti-social behaviour on the estate please report it to us lancasterwestoffice@rbkc.gov.uk or 0800 389 2005.

All reports are confidential and the information you provide us could be vital to take action against those responsible. If you see a crime taking place, please report it immediately to the police.
